It starts with my low back problems, spinal operations and things that went wrong. I've also included the different types of treatments I've had from chiropractors and physiotherapists to alternative therapies and treatments, spinal injections and pain management. You name it, I've tried it, in a bid to find true and lasting pain relief. I've even done a home study course on pain management and attended my local pain clinics. My blog also has some newspaper articles and other details I have collected from websites on treatments and types of pain relief. It's also about my quest to find out if a diagnosis that I was given that I also have Fibromyalgia, is correct, as so many of the pains are similar. And finally its about sharing tips on how to beat that pain in the neck and back which has been the bane of my life for over 20 years. Hopefully lots of other people along the way will benefit from my blog and pick up some pointers to help them with any back and neck problems they may have.

Back Pain Blog

In response to:Spinal Surgery, Haemorrhoids Surgery - is it the answer?

Just a thought, why don't you write to this professor and see whether he will see you at his NHS hospital, at least you'll be able to chat to the expert about it.

Its easier now to pick and chose where you want to be seen with the booking system all on the computer. Your GP should also be able to send you as part of the choose and book system.

I'll even come with you and hold your hand and translate all the midical jargon.
Thanks so much for your info - I've actually managed to get some help today. I'd talked to Dads social worker last week who said she would go and see him and try to persuade him to have some rest bite which he has decided he will have in January by coming to me for a few days.

He had a few tears this morning but knows its for the best with my daughters op etc before Christmas could be to much for me but I already feel better that something is being put into motion at last.

I'm fine otherwise, just get on with it, neither myself nor my daughter need a social worker but if I do I have such a great relationship with Dads that she would tell me what to do. Thanks again for thinking of me.

In response to:If only the pain would go away then I could...................

Is there any charity/hospice in your or their area that might provide respite care for your Dad or step-mother?

I just think that maybe the way to alleviate things may be to find outside support for all of you. You are all in need of care and this is a horrible situation for you all to be in.

Talk about the blind leading the blind - here we have the suffering caring for the suffering.

Do you have a social worker yourself?
Does your daughter?

I know you say you are too proud to ask for help - but if you are too proud you are limiting the help that you can provide for those who depend on you.

Maybe if you had 3 sets of social workers between them statistically you might have more of a chance of one of them coming up with some helpful suggestions.

Plus if they were all aware that their endeavours were being 'noticed' by other social workers in different districts they might get competitive/defensive and try much harder to find a good solution.

Just an idea. I think you need to try and think of things from a different angle - there's another saying - if you keep on doing what you've done before, you keep on getting what you've already got.

I hope something makes a turn for the better soon for you all,
love and hugs XXX
I have felt so lousy for the last few weeks, this damp weather is driving me crazy, I don't seem to be getting better, every day seem to be a new area of pain...this morning I woke up abruptly to a very sharp pain going through my right knee, i thought someone had jumped on it, it took hours for it to settle down...never had that before.
my appointment has been changed from 11th november to 10th December to see the rheumatologist and I have given in on the odd night and took the medication I told you the doc had given me and i've actually slept, but don't want to take em everyday.
I'm getting 2 massaages and one reflex treatment at college per week and boy did I miss them when it was half term!
Poor animals..have to suffer these horrible fireworks, my lab hates them and thunder and lightening so i'll be glad when it's all over..

If not I think you should go see a GP as well just to be on the safe side.

My Dad had a mouth ulcer that wouldn't go away and was told by one GP it was nothing - which is what he wanted to hear.
But by the time he saw a different doctor who knew their stuff and knew he should have it biopsied - it was too late. It turned out to be oral cancer and a year later he was no longer with us:(
If the first GP had been better at their job and got him sent for tests it would have been dealt with in time as it was one of those cancers that if dealt with early have an excellent survival rate.

Don't want to scare you - but if it was me I'd want more reassurance than an "immediate diagnosis" - there are plenty of health care professionals who get things wrong alas. :(

They may well be right - but getting a 2nd opinion won't do any harm.

In response to:Numbness in my foot

In response to:Having a bad day !

Bar you can tell me everyday a hundred times your problems and I will listen and be there for you.
Ah! thanks for that - I've just sent you a private message as I didn't get the one you sent me yesterday so sorry you've heard about my problem twice.

I do hope your feeling better today. As I said to Spiritbird if this carries on I will go to Doc as I just don't feel right at the mo. I'll write. Take care, B xx

In response to:Having a bad day !

Thanks for thinking of me. I'm still feeling very sickly and in pain so I think if this carries on a few more days I may have to go and see the Doc as you suggest. I'll keep you posted.
I agree I really think you should go to see your Dr or even A&E, your health is so important and you need to look after yourself. I know the stress has increased and you've been looking after your Dad but thats not the reason why this has happened.

You can feel sorry for yourself, we are all having bad times but we have each other and that will help.

Thinking of you.
Loss of sensation in a limb can mean all sorts of things including lack of blood supply and damaged nerves. I do not want to be an alarmist but I have had many years of experience with the medical proffession over this. Failing that you should insist on physiotherapy or go privately to a cranial osteopath. Personally I have had great results with acupuncture, although this does not work for everyone. I don't know your age but I can assure you that untreated it will not improve over years

In response to:Dad's slowly recovery from his op

Hi - Dad's a bit better - I've sent you a private message.
