I don't know if you read the article this week in the mail about how a shot of ozone can beat backache? but I would love to hear from anyone who may have had this done as it sounds brilliant.

Basically, "Ozone gas injections are being used to treat back pain including sciatica. The gas - a kind of oxygen more commonly associated with the ozone layer which protects us from the suns harmful rays -- is thought to have an anti-inflammatory effect and may also boost healing. The study found that patients who've had the treatment experienced an average 25 per cent improvement in symptoms. Ozone therapy - a mix of both ozone and oxygen - offers an alternative to surgery. It was first used medically more than a century ago, and has been tried for migraine, ear problems and a variety of conditions. But the therapy has proved controversial and there are many sceptics who question its effectiveness. However a recent study showed that patients were found to have an average 25.7 per cent improvement in back pain symptoms following the therapy.

Just how ozone could work to beat pain is not clear. One theory is that it acts on compounds called prostaglandins, which are involved in inflammation and pain. Another is that the supply of oxygen to the damaged area improves the blood supply and helps in the healing process. Daily Mail Good Health Tues March 31st 09."

I'd love to hear anybody's views on this? Thanks
